Are my files uploaded?
Not by the tools that run in your browser, which is most of them. A tool that needs a server says so on its page before you choose a file. The feedback form sends only what you attach yourself.
Do I need an account?
Not for the tools available today. They work without sign-up, without an email address, and without payment.
Is there a watermark?
No. The file you download is the result of the operation and nothing else is added to it.
Which browsers work?
A current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari. The tools need modern browser features, so a very old browser will show an unsupported message instead of a broken result.
How large can a file be?
Up to 100 MB. Above about 50 MB you get a warning first, because a large document needs a lot of memory and the tab can become slow. A file that size costs your browser several times its own size in memory while it is being processed.
Why does my scanned PDF produce no text?
A scan is a picture of a page. Converting it to text needs OCR, which PDFbees does not include. If you can select the text in a PDF reader, the conversion will work; if you cannot, it will not.
Why does the Markdown not match the layout?
Markdown has no page layout. Columns, tables, formulas, and footnotes are simplified or flattened into reading order. Always compare the important parts with the original document.
Can I open a password-protected PDF?
Not directly. Remove the password in a PDF reader first, then use the tool.
The tool failed or the tab froze. What now?
Reload the page and try again with a smaller file or fewer pages at once. If it still fails, send feedback and say which tool, which browser, and roughly how large and how many pages the document has. Please describe the document rather than attaching a private one.
Does it work offline?
The page has to load once. After that the processing itself does not need the network, but a reload does.
